Must eat super cool foods for summer


In summer we feel thirsty as nutrient loss along with water is high through the process of sweating increasing intake of water and thus reducing our hunger, As it is the peak of southern solstice the dryness of weather naturally reduces the process of digestion hence the intake of food also reduces. Therefore, in this period drinking only water cannot fulfill the need of body for nutrients. So, everyone must add following foods in their diet especially in summer season to avoid malnourishment of our body. Adding these foods along with our regular diet will only boost your mental & physical endurance throughout the summer.



1) Garcinia indica ( Kokam/Amsul )
Kokam is best food article to reduce the excess thirst & best pacifier of acidity. One must use kokam for all the year but especially in summer.
Kokam Chutney – Kokam , Cardamom, rock sugar mix together & grind in mixer grinder. This chutney is the best & tasty food article you want in your everyday meal.
Kokam sharbat – grind Kokam in mixer grinder make a fine paste of it. Add water & rock sugar to it. Stir the mixture and strain it. Add a pinch of rock salt & cardamom to it.
This sharbat (drink) reduces all the heat, weakness, dehydration of body. It helps you to get good & sound sleep in the night.
Kokam is one of the best antioxidant, which helps you to keep your skin & hair shiny, smooth.

2) Mango –
Ripened mango is vata & pitta pacifier. In Sanskrit it is called as “Hridya” means which is pleasant to heart. After eating, this fruit cheers up the mood.
It improves digestive systems health. Rich source of antioxidant hence improves color & luster of skin.
Ripened fruit has the high content of carotene, which converts into vitamin A & get stored in liver. However, mango is available in summer, for two & half month, eating it in this season, our body stores the sufficient amount of vitamin A, which can nourish our body throughout the year. It is also a rich source of vitamin C.
*Diabetic patients should consume mango under physicians Advice.

3) Dates –
It is tonic, cool in nature, & great pacifier of pitta. Also diuretic, reduces excess thirst, hence greatly helps in burning micturition (urination) which is common problem in summer. It is one of the well-known & rich sources of natural iron. Boosts overall strength, & endurance. Also a good heart tonic & vigor food.
One can eat it in chutney form or in sharbat form.
Dates chutney-  Seedless dates-50 gms
                          Seedless Wet tamarind – 30 gms
Black raisins – 40 gms
                          Ginger – 10 gms
                          Salt – accordingly
Rock sugar -  20 gms
Above all contents take in a mixer pot & grind them well & make fine paste of it. This chutney will add extra taste to your food along with countless health benefits.

4) Grapes / black raisins –
Grapes are vigor, tonic, diuretic, & have cooling effect on body. So best choice of food for burning urination. Also satisfies the thirst & fulfills the water need. Being a rich source of vitamin C reduces mental fatigue, cheers up your mood & boosts enthusiasm.
Black raisins (dried grapes) acts as an excellent coolant reducing the heat of body. It purifies blood. Good source of iron & antioxidant, to enhance overall immunity.

5) Melons (Muskmelon/watermelon) –
Muskmelons are vata & pitta pacifier. They are vigor food, has excellent coolant effects hence again helpful in burning urination. It helps to clear intestine & also the problems like gases, bloating, flatulence. It is natural sleep inducer, helps you to get good sleep & hence reduces fatigue of body and mind. Being a natural coolant, it also acts on prickly heat or heat rash, which is one of the main complaints in summers. For that, apply the juice of muskmelon on the affected part of rash & let it there for some time, then wipe it by wet clean cotton cloth.
Watermelon reduces excess thirst and removes fatigue of body & mind.
