 Tilgul In Makar – Sankranti

Have you ever wondered why each of our festival have special delicacy?  Because there is science behind it. In every season our body has specific nutritional need and this delicacy which we prepare during these festivals serves that purpose. So lets take a look at one of these foods.

Makar sankranti is an auspicious festival of an Indian culture, which falls in winter season, in which the “tilgul” is main traditional food.

Tilgul improves immunity.
It’s a high source of energy.
It’s a good source of iron.
Makes your skin glow, soft & lustrous.
Excellent vata dosha pacifier hence helps to reduce backache, body ache, joint pain and other vata diseases which aggravate in winter season.
Helps to prevent hairfall.
Hence in all “tilgul” is invigorative food article which everyone must have in these days.



Lets learn easiest method to prepare tilgul.
Ingredients -
Roasted sesame seeds (Til) - 250 gm
Grated / powdered jaggery – 250 gm
( Note – Quantity of jaggery may vary according to the sweetness one wants. If one wants it more sweet they can increase the quantity of jaggary or vice-versa.)
Mixture of powdered cardamom
And nutmeg                                        - 5 gm

Procedure –
Take both the ingredients in given quantity in mixer pot. Grind them well. It must be grinded well or finely. Then pour the mixture in a pot and add powdered mixture of cardamom and nutmeg to it and mix it thoroughly. Either you can make small balls out of it which we call “laddu” or you can serve it as it is.

So here is the easiest method to prepare tilgul without any efforts.
