Diet & lifestyle as per Ayurveda for Spring Season (Vasanta Ritucharya)

Vasant ritu ( Spring ) is the second season of northern solstice (Uttarayana). It starts mid February ends in mid April. In uttarayana days are longer than night.

Also this season is of flowering of trees wherein trees grow new leaves and  start to bloom. Along with this sun heat increases leading to melting of snow . Similarly warm weather melts the deposited kapha dosha*(http://www.ayurbeej.in/2016/02/kapha-dosha-tridosha-sidhhanta_10.htm) which had accumulated in winter season thus leading to aggravation of kapha dosha.

Poor digestion and aggravated kapha dosha leads to various problems like indigestion, cough, cold, asthma etc.In addition with this it is the peculiar season for allergies, as the pollen grains released from flowers mixed with air and cause allergic rhinitis, sneezing, sniffing like problems to many people.

Here below we are giving some guidelines of diet and lifestyle which one must follow in spring season.

Panchkarma- Shodhan Chikitsa (detoxification) is most important part of this season. Here for the elimination of aggravated kapha dosha, “Vaman” is suggested by ayurveda. It is also called as “Emesis” therapy which is known as the best choice for detoxification of body. It should be done only under control & supervision of an experienced Ayurvedic physician.
