The last and 3rd principle or dosha of tirdosha sidhhanta is Kapha dosha. When we plant a seed, it needs sunlight (Agni tatva) and air(oxygen/ vaayu tatva) along with water(som tatva) and if all three are in appropriate amount , It leads to healthy growth. Similarly in human body for growth, or for regeneration kapha dosha is responsible which we can call soma tatva of human body.
According to ayurveda vaata dosha consists of vaayu mahabhuta mainly, Pitta dosha consists of Agni (fire) and Jal (water) mahabhuta and in kapha dosha there is dominance of Prithvi (earth) and Jal (water) mahabhuta , and because of Prithvi and Jal elements our body get its firmness, rigidity and ability to regenerate.
Significance of kapha dosha
Functional areas of vata are the exact functional areas for kapha dosha.e.g thoracic region is area of prana, udana, and vyana (types of vata dosha), similarly it’s for kapha.
Also ayurveda says the qualities of vata and kapha are exactly opposite to each others. e.g. qualities of vata are light, dry, mobile (quick) whereas qualities of kapha are heavy, sticky ,steady (firm).
So we can clearly see that the qualities of kapha and vata dosha keep control on each other’s functions to maintain them and the normal physiology of body.
So we have seen all the three principles or doshas which holds and conducts our body functions and keep them healthy when they are in normal condition and if there is any abnormality, it creates symptoms which needs to be cured by medicines or panchakarma. This is Tridosha sidhhanta of ayurveda.
