Ayurveda Straight from Granny’s Kitchen - Introduction

Ayurveda has glorified “kitchen” as first dispensary. If we are aware of various foods available in our kitchen, we can easily use to treat common ailments like cough, cold, skin rashes, dandruff, hair fall, etc. also in turn help in boosting our immune system and can help in further prevention.

All the ingredients in our kitchen which we assume as only strictly be used in cooking are actually more useful than that, unfortunately many of us are unaware about the knowledge of how to use them properly. These are those things which help to cure and also not to fall ill.

Fruits/dry fruits, grains, vegetables, spices, milk and milk products can be used in every possible form. They are not just foods but possess great medicinal values.  Also all the parts are useful in unique ways and nutritious too as they are consumed according to seasons.

Your parents may share in their times may be 20 year back, grandmother would first treat them with the help of these elements. But now people have affinity for medicines which give instant  relief so we have forgotten the usage of home remedies which have been told by our sages from 5000 years.
Now a days we take medicines for early results, without the consent of doctors, even for minor health issues but forget that those medicines also cause some damage to our health. Another bad news is that these medicines used for symptoms relief only so the root cause is left untouched. So when immune system gets weak or changes in weather may boost the aggression of the disease.

Ayurveda has given the key for prevention named “Rutucharya”(http://www.ayurbeej.in/2016/03/importance-of-rutucharya-aahar-food.html) which means the dos and don’ts of diet & lifestyle that should be followed  according to all seasons*. Also ayurveda described how eating habits affects ones wellbeing.

Here we are starting this series of articles in which we are going to describe all the possible uses of these elements which can keep you healthy, and will improve immunity, strength and longevity.

Stay healthy. stay tuned.
